Breathe: A new Michael Jackson song in the hands of Deepak Chopra
Deepak Chopra (Deepak Chopra)—author, spiritual physician, spiritual teacher, and a university professor in the United States—has been a longtime friend of Michael Jackson.
This 65-year-old Indian doctor first met Michael in 1988, and the friendship between them lasted for two decades, until Michael died in 2009 due to cardiac arrest caused by an anesthetic drug propofol, which was administered by his doctor. Chopra’s direct number was on Michael’s speed dial, and the two spoke with each other frequently. Chopra says he knows what the last song the King of Pop was working on was.
In an interview, Chopra said that Michael had called him two days before his death.
"He left a message on my voicemail. He said he wanted to give me good news. Was Michael under pressure to hold a tour? Well, that’s what the news says—that he was forced to perform concerts to return to the stage. But in the message he left for me, his tone wasn’t like someone under pressure. He was very excited about the new song he had made, ‘Breathe / تنفس.’ He wanted me to take a look at the lyrics. The song is about the environment."
Chopra says such a death was written into Michael’s fate.
"He was moving toward this destiny. He wanted to die like Elvis Presley."
Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis’s daughter and Michael’s former wife, wrote in her blog the day after his death that years ago Michael had told her he thought he would die like Elvis.
Chopra continues:
"Michael once asked me, ‘What is the medicine that takes a person to the valley of death and then brings him back?’ Now I understand that the drug is ‘propofol.’ At the time, I didn’t know."
Chopra doesn’t know whether Michael recorded the song or not, but the lyrics are still in Chopra’s hands.
"I’ve contacted the foundation to return it. I can’t keep something that doesn’t belong to me."
In the book “Dancing The Dream” (Dancing The Dream), which contains his poems, Michael had thanked Deepak. Chopra says that he collaborated with Michael in writing a poem in this book titled “Planet Earth.” Michael performed this poem as a recitation, and after his death it was released on the This Is It album.
