Michael Jackson’s home furnishings sold for one million

At Saturday’s auction in Los Angeles, the furnishings and household items from the last home where Michael Jackson lived with his three children were sold for $1 million. These items did not belong to Michael. The expected auction price was between $200,000 and $400,000. A chalkboard that Michael’s children had written “I love Dad” on twice sold for $5,000, and a mirror with Michael’s handwriting on it sold for $25,750. The bed on which Michael died was part of the auction, but at the request of the Michael Jackson Foundation, it was pulled from the auction by Darren Julien, the head of Julien’s Auctions. However, the velvet board/bedspread that was in Michael’s bedroom under the bed was sold for $15,360. The estimated price for this rug was $400 to $600. Before the auction began, Julien displayed the home furnishings in a hall at display, and the empty space left by Michael’s bed in the hall was turned into a shrine for him by gifts from his fans. Darren Julien says: “Michael Jackson has the best fans in the world. I can understand why he loved them so much and lived for them. They came here every day to bring their gifts.
