Michael Jackson’s Bed and Pajamas Were Sold

A pair of sweatpants and silk pajamas—as well as the bed on which Michael Jackson once slept—were sold at an auction in Ireland. Because of their connection to Michael Jackson, the auction items sold for two to three times their original value. An American entertainment company paid $3,713 to obtain these sweatpants. But Michael’s bed, made of mahogany wood, will remain in Ireland because the buyer is Irish and paid $8,528 for it. The bed’s real value is only $1,100. When Michael lived in a house in the village of Mot, County Westmeath, Ireland for several months in 2006 with his children, he used these items. At that time, Michael was working on his songs at the Grouse Lodge studio along with Will.i.am, the Black Eyed Peas singer. Michael would sometimes go with his children to the cinema, a bookstore, a KFC restaurant, or a bowling club. Residents of the village remember him as a completely ordinary man. However, no one knew where he lived, because the landlord, Paddy Danning, had managed to keep this secret hidden. He says that if someone had told him they had heard Michael Jackson had a house around there, he would have replied: "Yes! Elvis Presley is here too."
