Auction of an Unseen Michael Jackson Concert Film

An unseen Michael Jackson concert film will be sold at auction in London on November 26. The estimated price is insane: 4 million pounds! The film is from Michael Jackson’s 1993 concert from the Dangerous Tour in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Even though very advanced editing techniques were used for the film, Michael wasn’t satisfied with the result and gave the only available version as a gift to his driver. This Brazilian driver, who wants to remain anonymous, has transported many famous people such as Margaret Thatcher and George Bush to their destinations during his career. He was in Michael’s service in 1993, and Michael gave him the concert film on VHS as a thank-you for his services. The anonymous driver kept the film hidden and, after Michael’s death in 2009, released part of it on YouTube. However, it was immediately stopped by Sony and the Michael Jackson Foundation, and the video was removed from YouTube. Both the foundation and Sony claimed ownership of the film, but since it was a gift, the driver had to decide what to do with it. Under U.S. law, he could sell the film, but he did not have the right to distribute or broadcast it.
