Thomas Mesereau: Conrad Murray Is Self-Obsessed

Thomas Mesereau, Michael Jackson’s defense attorney, discussed his views on the Conrad Murray trial in a 2005 interview with HLN. He believes the prosecution team has done an excellent job with the case. They conducted the question-and-answer process with witnesses very clearly and in an understandable way, but so far the defense attorneys have not achieved much success. Mesereau, however, points out that the trial is not over yet and that the defense attorneys may still surprise the court. The interviewer asked Mesereau whether the fact that Dr. Murray had involved his girlfriends and other people in this confidential matter—about working for Michael Jackson—does not indicate his need to show off. Conrad Murray took his girlfriend, Nicole Alvarez, who was pregnant, to see Michael. In court, Nicole said that Michael showed interest in their unborn child and had said that when the baby was born, he would return home so he could see the newborn. After their son was born, Murray took him and Nicole back to Michael’s home. Mesereau replied: "Michael was the biggest star and the biggest musical genius in the world. So anyone who was connected to him wanted to bring their friends and acquaintances to see him. I don’t think the jury will care much about this or about his multiple girlfriends. They will focus on how self-absorbed Conrad Murray is and how he thinks about himself first." Source: eMJey.com / HLN
