Tomorrow, Sunday, October 2, Michael Jackson’s unforgettable tour presented by Cirque du Soleil will open in Montreal, Canada. The hours ahead are full of excitement and worry for everyone who has been involved in this massive project for at least the past year.
Jamie King, the young and creative director of the tour, has worked with Michael on his tours and says Michael always wanted everything to be big. They have also tried to bring the grandeur worthy of Michael Jackson to the Cirque du Soleil shows.
These shows have an essential difference compared to other Cirque du Soleil productions: the presence of the orchestra on stage. Gregg Fielding, who has also collaborated with Michael on his tours and is now the music director of the unforgettable tour, says Michael cared a great deal about the music group. This group will perform more than 60 of the King of Pop’s songs.
Kevin Antunes has re-arranged Michael’s songs for performance in these shows, and an album of them will be released. Songs from Michael’s childhood and teenage years are also being used alongside his more famous works.
Cirque du Soleil has kept fans waiting for a long time, and everyone is eager to see what kind of atmosphere the best tribute to Michael Jackson—so far—will have.
A while back, a selection of managers from fan websites had been invited by the Foundation to watch an exclusive show of the unforgettable tour in Montreal. They all called this tour the best tribute made to Michael Jackson.
Howard Weitzman, the Foundation’s lawyer, said they want the unforgettable tour to be a celebration worthy of honoring Michael Jackson’s legacy, music, and genius. Besides that, Michael was a fan of Cirque du Soleil, and the current shows create a pleasant connection between him and Cirque du Soleil.
Cirque du Soleil will perform the unforgettable tour in 60 locations across North America. The last performances of these shows will be in July 2012 in Chicago. The shows will then move to their permanent base in Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas.
