Halloween Party with Shrek and Michael Jackson

Thriller Night (Night of the Trailer) is the title of a 6-minute short animation by Shrek, as well as a free, humorous take on Michael Jackson’s 1983 short film “Thriller.” This short animation was released on DVD this September (September 13).

In this short video, Shrek’s animated characters dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music.

As you know, today is Halloween, and to mark the occasion by scaring you a little, we are putting the “Thriller Night” animation here for download. You can also watch it on YouTube.

Many people around the world will try to scare others on Halloween night. They wear strange, unusual costumes and hit the streets. When children go door to door collecting chocolates and sweets, adults tell scary stories and watch horror movies.

Group dancing to “Thriller” has, for a few years now, turned into one of the exciting Halloween traditions. People in both small and big cities paint themselves like the dead rising from graves and dance in small and large groups.

An annual competition has also been launched to win the world record for the most “Thriller” dance performances among people worldwide. For the first time, in 2006, 60 people from Toronto, Canada, claimed the world record for “Thriller” dancing. In 2007, the website thrilltheworld.com was created to serve as a base for organizing “Thriller” dance events and recording the records.

On October 27 of that year, 1,722 people from around the world in 52 cities across 17 countries danced together to “Thriller.” The number of “Thriller” dancers on October 25, 2008 reached 4,179. In 2009, 22,571 people from 264 cities and 33 countries danced “Thriller” simultaneously. In 2010, 221 “Thriller” dance events were held around the world, with 13,042 participants. This year’s “Thriller” dance competition took place on October 29.

But “Thriller” isn’t performed only for Halloween. On Michael Jackson’s birthday, August 29, 2009—two months after his death—13,597 people from Mexico City managed to set the record for the largest number of people doing a group “Thriller” dance in a single location, in the Guinness World Records.
