Beware of Michael Jackson scams on Facebook

Last week, on Michael Jackson’s birthday, a new page about Michael Jackson titled “I Love Michael Jackson” was reopened on Facebook. Although at first it seemed the page had been created to celebrate Michael’s 53rd birthday, it turned out to be a cover for scamming Michael’s fans.

They are faced with ads on this page offering things like a free iPad or similar prizes. By clicking the related links, they hand over their personal information—including their name, date of birth, address, email address, and contact phone number—to the scammers, who can then use this information however and wherever they want.
