A specialist doctor: responsibility for Michael Jackson’s death will never leave Murray
Dr. Barry L. Friedberg, who has been a specialist anesthesiologist for more than 30 years, says that although Conrad Murray is guilty, he might still be acquitted. However, whether he goes to prison or walks freely on the streets, the responsibility for Michael Jackson’s death—watching his death and not trying to save his life—will never leave him.
Friedberg wrote a book titled “Getting Over Going Under,” and he also dedicated a chapter of it to Michael Jackson and his death. He believes that Conrad Murray violated the medical standard.
He says that once Michael Flanagan, the attorney for the accused Murray, came to him because he was the first specialist that lawyers wanted to hear testimony from in court in favor of Conrad Murray. Flanagan tried to defend his client. Friedberg continues:
“I told him that I was impressed, but not in the way he wanted. There is no word in the dictionary that can convey the depth of Conrad Murray’s disregard and negligence. Even medical students are not that careless and inconsiderate.”
Friedberg says that the only situation that could be even more negligent than Murray’s performance is piloting someone out of an airplane without a parachute.
This specialist doctor says that when you consider Murray’s injection of propofol alongside other behaviors—such as his refusal to accept responsibility for many children he has with multiple women, his failure to pay their monthly support, and his disregard for other financial obligations—he concludes that there must be a major reconsideration of Conrad Murray, accused of murder:
“Murray is a symbol of antisocial behavior in America.”
“He isn’t an illiterate fool. But he doesn’t feel any obligation to respect social norms. When he claims he is innocent about what he did, he truly believes it and thinks he can convince the jury as well.”
“In his defense, he said he has never had a bad medical record. Apparently, whoever has never been pursued legally is considered a top-tier doctor. Anyone who claims that because he has no bad record, he must be a good doctor, is showing antisocial behavior. None of his statements should be believed.”
“Unfortunately, even if he is convicted, goes to prison, and his license is revoked, he won’t stop practicing medicine. Because the law means nothing to him. At least that’s how it is in his mind.”
“The law says that as long as a crime is not proven, a person is innocent. But when Murray says, ‘I gave Michael Jackson propofol and then I left the room,’ he is personally confessing to the biggest anesthesiology mistake: abandoning the patient.”
“For more than 20 years, tens of millions—if not hundreds of millions—of people have been put to sleep with propofol in complete safety, under these conditions: 1) someone is watching over them, and 2) someone is watching their vital signs.”
“When you leave a patient alone and go, you violate the two conditions above. Murray, without any doubt, provided conditions that led to Michael Jackson’s death.”
“That’s exactly why you can’t say he is innocent until the court announces its verdict.”
“But in a society where O.J. Simpson acquits a guilty person of killing his wife, there is no hope of hearing a guilty verdict from the jury in this case.”
