Mesereau: What People Did With Michael Jackson Is the Tragedy of Our Time

Thomas Mesereau, Michael Jackson’s defense attorney in the 2005 court case, recently spoke with LA Canvas about some of the biggest social misconceptions about Michael Jackson. Mesereau is known by the nickname “Nicky” in his profession and among his colleagues. He takes on the cases of indigent defendants for free. His colleagues consider him an honest person who, when it comes to honesty, self-respect, and human standards, compromises with no one. This trait is known among his colleagues and is unmatched. Many people close to Michael took advantage of his death as an opportunity to make a name for themselves, but Thomas Mesereau did not. It was definitely disgusting. I heard that outside the hospital, people were running around and saying they were close to Michael just to get the media’s attention, so they could benefit.” “The biggest misunderstanding people had about Michael was that they thought he was a child abuser. Unfortunately, because he was so famous and there was so much controversy around him, and because he was a genius in art, people had all kinds of strange ideas about him—and those ideas were brought into criminal matters.” “He wasn’t a child abuser. He wasn’t a criminal.
