Thomas Mesereau’s Speech at the Michael Jackson School
On Saturday, on the second anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death, a major tribute event was held at his childhood school. Gardner Elementary School had hosted Michael years ago, and named an auditorium in his honor “Michael Jackson.”
In 2003, following the allegations of child sexual abuse against Michael, a cover was placed over his name on the front of the auditorium. After his death in 2009, his fans from all over the world joined together and, through their relentless efforts, were finally able to remove that cover from his name—one that had been cleared of all allegations in 2005.
Thomas Mesereau (Thomas Arthur Mesereau, Jr) is one of Michael Jackson fans’ longtime heroes. In 2005, he took on Michael’s case in the courtroom that ultimately led to his acquittal. Over the years, Mesereau has never missed an opportunity to introduce Michael’s human nature, his sense of charity and generosity, and his unwavering support for him across various media.
Mr. Mesereau was a guest at Gardner School on Saturday and once again spoke in support of Michael. He faced a huge turnout of people who had been invited to the event and were eager to listen to him. At the ceremony, Mesereau spoke about Michael’s kindness toward him and his family, and about the courage and strength Michael showed during the harrowing, high-stress trial in 2005.
