Possible delay in the start of Michael Jackson’s murder trial

Defense attorneys for the accused of involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson have asked the judge to postpone the trial date so they can review new witnesses in the case.

On Friday, David Walgren of the prosecution team told the court, citing two medical experts, that it is possible that this bruise may have caused Michael’s death after he drank a lethal amount of the drug propofol—an allegation raised by Conrad Murray’s defense attorneys. They say it is possible that Michael swallowed the drug after Dr. Murray left the room so he could fall asleep.

However, yesterday David Walgren said that from a scientific standpoint it is not absolutely possible that Michael digested the drug. The prosecution did not provide details on why the medical experts reached such a conclusion.

Murray’s lawyers have asked the judge to ignore the statements of these two doctors and not summon them to testify in court because they provided their information right before the trial, and the lawyers have not yet had the chance to review it.

Michael Flanagan, Murray’s defense attorney, says these two doctors should not testify at the upcoming trial because the lawyers will not be prepared to face them due to time constraints. Another option is to give the lawyers more time and postpone the trial date.

Judge Michael Pastor will announce his decision on this matter on Monday.
