Elizabeth Taylor has died
Elizabeth Taylor, a golden-age Hollywood icon, winner of two Academy Awards and one of the most beautiful women in the history of cinema’s close-up screens, has died today at the age of 79 due to heart trouble at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. At the time of her death, her family was by her side.
Mrs. Taylor traveled to Iran once, in 1955.
Elizabeth Taylor received the title “Dame” (Dame, meaning “Lady,” equivalent to the title “Sir”) from Queen Elizabeth II.
Lady Elizabeth was one of the pioneering artists in the world’s fight against AIDS, at a time when people were still living in fear of AIDS. Her family has asked people around the world to donate their money to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation instead of sending flowers or condolence cards.
She and Michael Jackson were close friends. Their friendship dates back to the mid-1980s. Elizabeth, who took a group of 30 people with her to watch Michael’s performance, left the concert venue in Los Angeles in protest. When Michael became aware of it, he called her with tearful eyes. Liz assured him that her dissatisfaction was only because she and her group couldn’t see or hear anything. Their phone conversation lasted three hours, and their relationship turned into an everlasting friendship.
On February 16, 1997, three days after Prince was born, Michael sang for Elizabeth Taylor. He was celebrating her 65th birthday at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles, which also had television coverage. That night, Michael was Elizabeth’s special guest and performed the song “Elizabeth, I Love You” on stage.

"I was impressed by her power and endurance. This lady went through many hardships, struggled with many problems, and stood firm and steady. After Michael’s death in June 2009, Elizabeth Taylor said that due to the intensity of her sorrow, she still hadn’t been able to issue a statement about the event. She then said she couldn’t attend the memorial ceremony held in July 2009 because her relationship with Michael was very dear to her, and she didn’t feel the need to share it with other people. However, Elizabeth Taylor did attend Michael’s funeral, held in September that year. That was her last appearance in a public gathering. In the months that followed, Michael’s children met with Elizabeth Taylor at her home and once went out with her on a tour during a Hollywood celebration.
