Michael Jackson’s storybook for children

Since Michael’s death, many things have been done in his memory around the world. Statues, paintings, murals, and now a storybook for children. “Ever After” is a book written by Brenda Jenkins with beautiful illustrations by Katie Garin. This book tells children about Michael Jackson’s life—the story of a childhood born to share with the world his talent, music, kindness, love, and attention.

Brenda says: “I was born in 1958, the year Michael was born. When he suddenly left us, I looked at all his achievements over a 50-year life and realized that I came into this world for something more than what I had done up to that point. I decided to always trust my heart and never give up on my dreams, just like Michael. For years I had wanted to be a writer, but I never started seriously. The day Michael’s memorial was held (July 8, 2009), I began writing. After months of crying, reading, and learning, I wrote a story about Michael’s life. I thought about his children, and how maybe this memorial book could help them get through hard times. My daughter is the same age as Prince and Paris, and my heart aches for them. It was last March that I found an amazing drawing on Facebook, and I immediately messaged the owner to ask if they would be willing to do the book’s illustrations. She read the story and agreed. Katie had admired Michael for years, and she can recreate his essence in her drawings.”

“The message of the book is that all of us have a gift to offer to this world. Michael gave his gift to the world completely, and he is a role model and source of inspiration for all of us. This book is for children, and also for the child inside all of us—the child that Michael always said was hidden within him.”

The book is printed and sold by the author herself, and 20% of the revenue from each book is donated to charities in Michael’s name. The book’s beautiful images are as captivating and impactful as its story.
