Celine Dion Sings “Smile”

As you read, Celine Dion will remember Michael Jackson during her upcoming show on March 15 in Las Vegas. At the Oscars ceremony on Sunday, Celine will sing “Smile.” During her performance, images of those who passed away in the film world over the past year will be shown on stage. “Smile,” written by Charlie Chaplin, was one of Michael’s favorite songs. She recorded and performed it for her “History” album. That’s why Celine Dion will perform this same song on her Las Vegas show and dedicate it to Michael. She says: “Michael changed my life. I saw him on television, and since he sang in English, I decided to sing in that language too. That’s what made me learn English, and later I saw him and sang with him. He came to see my show. Michael has had a huge impact on my life.” At the 2009 memorial held two weeks after Michael’s death, Jermaine Jackson, his brother, sang “Smile” for Michael. Before that, Brooke Shields, Michael’s longtime friend, said in her speech that “Smile” was MJ’s favorite song. Source: eMJey.com / contactmusic.com
