Los Angeles Medical Examiner Says No to Discovery

The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office, which autopsied Michael Jackson in 2009 to determine the cause of death, had rejected Discovery’s request to participate in their television program. Earlier in 2010, the producers of the program contacted the deputy chief medical examiner, Ed Winter, and asked whether he would be willing to do an interview and describe the autopsy and legal investigation. Mr. Winter has recently told TMZ: “I said no, we have no interest in doing that. In my opinion, it’s unprofessional, and out of respect for his family, I won’t do it.” Without this cooperation, Discovery decided to base its program on an official report that the medical examiner’s office had provided to the general media.
