Jason Malakai: "I haven’t sung Michael Jackson’s album songs"

Since Michael Jackson’s new album "Michael" was released last December, some fans have said that Sony, in collusion with the King of Pop’s foundation, hired a singer named "Jason Malakai" to do cover vocals that mimic Michael’s voice and sing some of the album’s tracks. Soon after, a video was released on YouTube featuring (a fake) version of his manager, claiming that Jason had sung these songs. The question raised at the time was: if this claim is true, is YouTube the right place to bring it up? Shouldn’t legal authorities be consulted to pursue such claims? After some time, the video was removed from YouTube. During this period, despite the fact that the foundation’s lawyer, Howard Witzman, announced in a statement that he had spoken personally with Malakai and that Malakai confirmed he did not collaborate on this album, some people still believed Jason was the singer of the songs. Not long ago, on a Facebook page that was claimed to belong to Jason Malakai, something like a confession was posted. The person claimed that Sony and the foundation conspired and that he was the singer of some of the album’s songs. As things got worse, Todd Naudon, Jason Malakai’s manager, stepped forward and said in a statement that Jason—who serves as a deputy sheriff in Maryland—wants everyone to know without any doubt that he has never even sung a single line from any of Michael’s album songs, and that the Facebook page is not his.
