A new album comes out before Christmas

Roger Friedman, in his news column, writes that, according to an insider at Sony Music, Michael Jackson’s new album—made up of several never-before-heard songs—will be released on the market before this Christmas, but the exact date is not yet known because work on the album is not finished.

Friedman says that four of the album’s 12 tracks were recorded in 2007 at the home of Eddie Casio, the producer and a friend of Michael, in New Jersey. One of these songs, in collaboration with Eddie’s brother, Frank Casio, was originally written and produced for R&B singer Bobby Ewing. The remaining songs are tracks that Michael had pulled from his albums but had not released. One song, titled Love Never Felt So Good, was made in the 1980s in collaboration with Paul Anka.

John McClain, Sony’s former executive and one of the trustees of the Michael Jackson Foundation, along with Randy Gerber, the producer of the 2001 Michael Jackson album Invincible and the Black singer Akon, are working on the album. Last week, Sony’s manager Rob Stringer visited these people at their workplace in Los Angeles to see the progress. This album is part of a $225 million contract that Sony signed with the Michael Jackson Foundation. This contract is also considered the biggest music recording deal in history. Therefore, Sony wants this album to sound like a bomb.

Meanwhile, the Michael Jackson Foundation is also working on another project planned for fall 2011: Cirque du Soleil with a Michael theme. A documentary about the process of producing this Michael show will also be released.
