American Jesus

David LaChapelle, the prominent photographer and director known for advertising and fashion, reopened his photo gallery titled “American Jesus” at the Chelsea bridge in New York two days ago. The gallery will remain open until September 18.

The gallery’s standout works are paintings he created using his own photography of models, in which the King of Pop is depicted like a “martyr saint.”

One of these paintings is titled American Jesus, and it is based on a sculpture Michelangelo created of the Virgin Mary holding Jesus Christ (Pieta).
