The Jackson Family at Forest Lawn

On Friday afternoon, the Jackson family came to pay their respects to him with more than 5,000 fans at his gravesite at Forest Lawn. Fans moved in orderly lines inside Forest Lawn Park toward Michael’s tomb, carrying sunflowers—Michael’s favorite.

Although they were not allowed to enter the mausoleum known as the Great Mausoleum, they were able to gather in the surrounding area.

Michael’s brothers, Tito, Randy, Jermain, and his sister Janet were there that day.

Michael’s children did not come to the gravesite. Some reports say they were seen in Hawaii on Thursday with their grandmother.

Randy apologized for Michael on his Twitter page:

“My older brother, I’m sorry we didn’t bring the kids to your gravesite on your first anniversary. I tried.”

Catherine was in the city of Grace that day and unveiled the memorial statue of Michael, made of marble—the material she loves most.

Speaking about her presence in Grace, Catherine said she was happy to return to “home.”

The memorial for Michael is located in the small Jackson family yard where they lived nearly 40 years ago, and it bears the inscription:

“I Never Say Goodbye”

This line is the title of one of the songs by the Jackson 5, of which Michael was a key member.
