Details From Michael’s Will

According to Michael’s will, all of his wealth and assets are divided among his three children, his mother Katherine, and several children’s charities. Michael’s three children receive 40% each, and his grandmother Katherine receives only 40% of Michael’s wealth until her death; after her death, her share goes to Michael’s three children. The remaining 20% goes to several charities.

Recently, an English newspaper published more details on this. According to the report, the will was drawn up in 1995 and updated in 2002.

Until the age of 21, Michael’s children can request an allowance from their father’s foundation. Each child’s share of Michael’s assets is $33 million.

According to a court ruling after Michael’s death, $86,000 is paid to Katherine every month to cover her own expenses and those of Michael’s children.

Each child, when they reach the age of 30, can take possession of one-third of their inheritance share. At age 35, they will have access to half of their inheritance share, and at age 40 they can receive their entire inheritance share.

Besides the children, their mother, and children’s charities, no other person is named as an heir in the will.

The will states that if Michael has no children, or if—if he does have children—they die before him, and if his mother also dies, then all of his assets will go to LaVonne, Elijah, and Anthony (Michael’s nephews), and Taj, Taryll, and TJ (his brother Tito’s sons).

There is no mention of Omar Bhatti, whose paternity was rumored to be Michael’s. Although Omar himself said that Michael was not his father but a close friend, the fact that he was invited to Michael’s memorial ceremony in July 2009, sat in the front row among Michael’s sisters and brothers, and also had a close relationship with his children and the Jackson family led the media to speculate about their relationship. However, the absence of Omar’s name in Michael’s will is a strong reason to reject the claim of a father-son relationship.

After Michael’s death, his lawyers were able to generate nearly $300 million for Michael’s children and his foundation through commercial contracts and the film production of This Is It. Experts say that, considering Katherine’s share and the foundation’s future economic activities, as well as the return on the money, each of Michael’s children could have at least $300 million by the age of 30.

One of Michael’s friends said, regarding the fact that none of his brothers and sisters were named in the will, that Michael didn’t feel they needed his help and care.

Michael also wrote in his will that his children can designate the charitable institution that receives 20% of his wealth, according to their own choice.
