Photos from Michael’s treasure featured on Kanye West’s site

Black rapper Kanye West yesterday posted several photos from the still-unreleased book “Neverland Lost: A Portrait of Michael Jackson” on his personal website. The book looks at Michael Jackson’s rich collection, his luxurious clothing, and his artistic flair. More than 60 photo pieces taken by the renowned Swiss photographer Henry Leutwyler are presented in this book, and they only represent a small part of Michael Jackson’s enormous collection.

Photos of a golden statue, winged heavenly children made of marble, an oil painting of Michael in the image of a medieval prince, characters from Walt Disney cartoons, close-up shots of Michael’s military coat and his embroidered and beaded Michael, a dancing shoe with his name engraved on its sole, and of course his very famous bejeweled glove adorn the pages of this book.

The photographer Henry Leutwyler has also published a text on Kanye West’s website that explains his motivation for writing and printing the “Neverland” book:

“They say that the pharaohs of Egypt built the pyramids to leave a sign of their lives for future generations. Michael Jackson sacrificed his childhood so that his musical gift could shout out. Neverland was a pyramid he built as a symbol of his lost childhood. This book takes us to his lost Neverland.”

West, in a text as well, while thanking Eutler for sharing these photos, wrote something in praise of Michael:

“This book is an incredible document of Michael’s treasure. The clothes, artworks, and handicrafts he collected reveal the essence of the greatest pop music idol of our time. Michael was truly a king.”
