Happy flowers

You read that last Friday Jason Lewin brought 2,000 sunflower branches to Michael’s tomb at Forest Lawn.

This happened after Lisa Marie Presley, Michael’s ex-wife and the daughter of Elvis Presley, wrote on her MySpace page:

“Hello to the eMJey fans...

A few days ago, during a visit to Michael’s tomb at Forest Lawn, I noticed that only a few flower baskets, some candles, and a few gifts were placed next to his grave. Meanwhile, there is a large open area next to his tomb where many things could be placed.

He wanted more, and he deserves it. I have an idea...

Maybe you know it or maybe you don’t, but his favorite flower was the sunflower. They made him happy because, in his opinion, they looked joyful. That’s why he named this flower ‘Happy Flower’.

When we got married, I tried to fill every room he was in with these flowers. I wanted to leave something next to him that he would love and that would last. So I brought a large vase full of sunflower silk flowers and placed it beside him.

I know how much he loved being surrounded by gifts and flowers from his fans. I thought that if each of you would just buy one sunflower branch and send it to Forest Lawn, the large area next to his grave—which is now empty—would be filled with flowers in the shortest time. And that would be much more fitting than the current view.

He deserves to be surrounded by these gifts. Let’s do it.”
