Michael Jackson, the Angel of Children
On March 7, 59-year-old Rebbie and 48-year-old Randy—Michael Jackson’s siblings, who rarely appear in public—showed up at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, to receive the 2010 “Angel” award that was given to their brother Michael by the charity and non-governmental organization Children Uniting Nations. The award was given to him for his support of children throughout his life.
Rebbie Jackson told the audience, “We miss him so much. And we know you do too.” She also said backstage with a smile, “I’m very happy to be here. Michael was very emotional and supportive about children. He loved this award and this ceremony. I thank all the officials and I appreciate them.”
She said about Michael’s death: “This event has been very heavy for us. We try to stay together as a family and endure it. I’m trying to think positively. But aside from these things, Michael’s children are doing okay.”
She also talked about the guardianship of Michael’s children, Katherine Jackson, saying that her mother: “enjoys spending time with her grandchildren very much, and what she loves most is for everyone to gather together and play. She always supports the kids.”
