Short film Thriller registered as a National Treasure

The first news about Michael Jackson in the New Year is that his unforgettable video, the trailer (Thriller), has been registered in the U.S. National Film Registry as a National Treasure. The short trailer video was officially registered as a National Treasure.

This video, on Wednesday, December 30, was one of 25 films selected from hundreds of nominated films that were registered in the Library of Congress as a treasure.

Even more interesting is that Thriller is the first music video to be registered in the National Film Registry of the United States. The head of this institution says that in recent years this video had always been considered for registration, but after Michael’s death, the opportunity for this purpose finally arose.

Every year, 25 works that are outstanding in cultural, historical, and aesthetic terms are registered in the National Library of Congress as treasures for all time. All selected films are recognized, in one way or another, as important and influential to American culture.

Also, the film “Dog Day Afternoon,” starring Al Pacino, was among the selections for this period from among hundreds of nominated films.
