This Is It is Billboard’s No. 1
It probably won’t surprise anyone that Michael’s newly released album, titled This Is It, has debuted at number one on the best-selling charts in the United States.
Michael Jackson’s album Number Ones, released in 2003, was the best-selling album of 2009, and now This Is It — released for sale in the United States starting October 27 — has taken the top spot on the Billboard 200 daily sales chart.
In today’s chart, November 4, This Is It is in first place with sales of 373,000 copies, making it Michael’s sixth album to enter the Billboard chart at number one. He previously entered the Billboard 200 at number one in 1995 with History, selling 391,000 copies in one week. Of course, Michael’s history of number ones goes back to Thriller in 1983, which was later repeated with Bad, Dangerous, History, and Invincible. This year, Michael’s Number Ones—his collection of greatest hits—spent more than 10 weeks at the top of Billboard’s album catalog chart.
Billboard’s second place, with sales of 110,000 copies, goes to Full Circle, the Creed group’s newest album since 2001. The third spot is held by Weathered, which sold 887,000 copies during this week.
