Request to Launch a “Neverland” Product Line

Roger Friedman, in his blog, has reported on Colony Capital’s efforts to bring products bearing the Neverland logo to market. Michael transferred the Neverland property to Sycamore Valley Ranch in November last year. He is a co-owner of this company with Thomas Barak, the head of the investment company Colony Capital LLC. Neverland was previously named Sycamore Valley Ranch before Michael bought it in 1988. Roger Friedman says that Michael’s partner, Thomas Barak, has requested that a number of items be sold under the Neverland trademark—such as toys, dolls, a badminton set, a yo-yo, a baseball bat, a ball, Christmas tree decorative items, sports equipment, clothing, greeting cards, posters, books, stationery, and... and, as Friedman quips, in “harmony with Michael’s peaceful nature,” guns, toy pistols, and toy rockets. This request was filed on August 12 under the name Sycamore Valley Ranch. So far, the capital company has invested more than $50 million in Neverland, and there’s no doubt it wants a return on its investment. Neverland has been closed since 2005. Although Neverland’s neighbors in the Sycamoore Valley are not happy about their quiet place being turned into a museum full of noise and traffic, Thomas Barak is pressuring local governments to approve his plans for Neverland. Whether he will succeed or not is still unclear. Source: eMJey / Showbiz411.com
