More Michael memorabilia added for auction
This year’s auction of some of Michael’s memorabilia will be held on November 21 at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York. Julien’s Auctions has recently added ten more items to these lots. Among them are an autographed book and a gift given by Michael, four beautiful drawings, handwritten lyrics to the amazing song Beat It, the guitar he played, and his suit from the film Men In Black II.
Frankenstein design — 10 by 15 centimeters — drawn during the filming period of The Wiz, 1977.
Sketch of a man’s face — 10 by 15 centimeters — this design shows the unique skill of an untrained artist in maintaining proportions, shading, and depicting sound-texture imagery. Michael successfully taught himself to sing, dance, and act. So it’s no surprise that his success also shows in his visual artworks.
Face design — 10 by 15 centimeters — drawn during the filming of The Wiz — this sketch may have been influenced by his own makeup in the film.
An image from the book It Was A Very Good Year — Walton School yearbook located in Panorama, California — 1971 — 1970. On page 12 of this book, there is a photo of 13-year-old Michael, and on page 22 this drawing is also printed, clearly anti–Vietnam War. This drawing is set to be published in Michael’s illustrated book Official Michael Jackson Opus.
An acoustic guitar belonging to Michael’s makeup artist in the film Wiz, played by the King of Pop. 1978. Along with four color photos of Michael and his makeup artist, Michael Thomas. Thomas made a puppet for Michael for this film. The two-month-and-a-few-days collaboration between them turned into a friendship. Thomas says Michael, at 19, “loved to laugh. He had an innocent sense of humor and had enthusiasm and excitement for everything he did. He always said that whatever he was busy with at that moment was the most important thing in his life. And he put all his energy and focus into the work he was enjoying at that moment.”
Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL, 1985
This car was brought into America in limited numbers, making it rare and suitable for collectors. Michael Jackson bought this car for the Neverland estate. He then presented this Benz as a birthday gift to his aunt/uncle. His thank-you message to Michael for this generous gift is engraved on the car’s license plate.
A Pictorial History of Horror Movies — signed and gifted by Michael to his makeup artist, Michael Thomas. At the beginning of the book, Michael wrote: “To Mike, I think the best gift in the world is a book that matches someone’s interests. So take care of yourself. With love. Michael Jackson. Wiz. 77.”
