Michael’s Ferris wheel leaves Neverland

From the top of the Ferris wheel at Neverland amusement park, you could see the grandeur of the Neverland ranch, which seemed like a fitting place for a king. But last year, the Ferris wheel was sold so it could show itself somewhere else, and according to its new owner, it’s more a reminder of the past than a mere entertainment ride.

Michael sold many of his amusement park items. Now his Ferris wheel is in the hands of the Archway Entertainment company in Missouri, which wants to add it to its collection of entertainment attractions.

Teresa Norpfer, one of the owners of this company, says that with Michael’s death, the news that they had bought the ride “went off like a bomb.” But they weren’t the ones who publicized it. Now, it can’t be kept secret anymore.

Although no decision has been made yet about installing a plaque with Michael’s name next to the Ferris wheel, the name of the previous owner has been passed along by word of mouth—so people take photos next to it and want to ride it. Some people also shed a few tears in memory of Michael.

The metal frame around the seats of this Ferris wheel is still the same red color that Michael had ordered from the manufacturing factory. He bought this Ferris wheel for $215,000 in 1990 and took it to Neverland. When this 20-meter ride was installed in its place, Michael took his first ride on it.
