The biggest fashion event of the week in 2009 in Milan, Italy, was a charity auction held on Monday, September 28, with the participation of stars, hosted by Janet Jackson, in support of the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). The auction raised $1.1 million to help the foundation.

The first event of the auction was the sale of a pair of Swarovski crystal boots with a star design that belonged to Michael Jackson, and he was supposed to wear them on stage at the O2 Arena in London. Michael was scheduled to perform there for 50 nights. These boots sold for $14,650.

Sudanese model Amina, Alex Wok, said at the time of the sale of these boots: “I grew up in South Sudan and I didn’t know many music stars. But Michael influenced many people.”
