Is Captain E.O. Coming Back?

After Michael’s death on June 25, people bombarded Disneyland with their requests to show the space—fantasy 3D film “Captain E.O.” Now, rumors are circulating about the return of this 17-minute film, in which Michael plays the savior of the Earth. Of course, earlier Disneyland had announced that, for the time being, there were no plans for this film, and that the public still had to wait for official confirmation of the news.

The film was released in 1986 at Disneyland locations in the United States, Paris, and Tokyo. In this film, two new songs by Michael (Another Part Of Me, We Are Here To Change The World) were played for the first time. Michael acted and sang in the film. The film was produced by George Lucas, and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The role opposite Michael was played by Angelica Huston. With a budget of $30 million for just 17 minutes, Captain E.O. became one of the most expensive films. The film was successful at the box office and remained one of Disneyland’s major attractions throughout the 1990s.

It has been said that news about the film’s re-release might be announced in September, and if that happens, Captain E.O. could return to Disneyland starting in January 2010.
