Michael’s wax statue in Hollywood

The wax figure made in London is being brought to the Madame Tussauds museum in Hollywood under heavy security measures. This $55 million museum is a new tourist attraction in Southern California and the ninth Madame Tussauds museum in the world.

Michael’s wax figure will be put on public display two days before his birthday, on August 27, at the Madame Tussauds museum on Hollywood Boulevard, next to the Chinese Theatre. Michael’s star on the Walk of Fame is located across from the same theatre. The first 250 visitors will be able to take souvenir photos with Michael’s $300,000 wax figure. Before the figure is unveiled at 4:00 p.m. that day, Michael’s songs and music will be played in the air starting at 11:00 a.m. A DJ is expected to play his tracks. There will also be dancing and a “moonwalk.”

London, Amsterdam, Las Vegas, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Washington, D.C., and Berlin are the eight cities that host Madame Tussauds museums. Thirteen wax figures have been made of Michael. The only person ahead of him is Queen Elizabeth. Having so many wax figures made of a single star is unusual. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the founding of Madame Tussauds. Over the years, Madame Tussauds museums have welcomed more than one and a half billion visitors.
