A magnificent illustrated book about Michael
Poems, writings, images, and behind-the-scenes stories about Michael as an artist and showman are the topics of a stylish, exquisite book titled “The Official Michael Jackson Opus,” to be released on December 7 this year.
The book costs $165, and interestingly, they say it’s cheap. The publisher is used to selling expensive books, but Michael’s wish was that the book be as affordable as possible and accessible to everyone.
The publisher of this book is Kraken Opus, whose books revolve around prominent and well-known athletes and artists.
This is a very large 400-page illustrated book, weighing 12 kilograms, and within the images it also contains poetry and writings. The book is presented in a leather cover with a silk frame.
You can order the book via michaeljacksonopus.com, michaeljackson.com, and Ticketmaster.
Negotiations for this book began last year. Kraken contacted him through Peter Lopez, Michael’s lawyer. At first, the idea was for this book to include events from Michael’s O2 concerts as well, but with Michael’s death, that idea could not be realized.
Kraken says: “We wanted to tell the behind-the-scenes stories of Michael Jackson as a showman.”
When Michael was busy rehearsing his concerts, Kraken was invited to his home in Bel Air. When Michael learned they were working on a book about a Disney work, he got excited like a child in a chocolate shop and asked whether it would be possible for him to collaborate with them in preparing a book about his life.
Lopez says Michael was impressed by the magnitude of the publisher’s work and emphasized his enthusiasm to collaborate. When Michael passed away, their negotiations were left unfinished.
Now they have to make changes to the book’s contents, and unfortunately the chapter about the London concerts will not be included. But anyone who was part of the rehearsals and preparation for these concerts, as well as people close to Michael and famous stars who are interested in collaborating, will be involved.
“We want people to write something—one sentence, one paragraph, or a chapter. We expect a huge collaboration.”
Five volumes of this book, signed by several famous Michael fans, will be auctioned so that the sales revenue will be distributed among the five charities supported by Michael.
