A Beautiful Performance of a Michael Song on Britain’s Got Talent

Shahin Jafar Qoli, a 12-year-old boy from Wales, UK, is one of the surprises of this round of Britain’s Got Talent. The 12-year-old performed one of Michael Jackson’s very successful songs from the Jackson 5, titled Who’s Loving You, in a truly beautiful way, winning praise from both the audience and the judges. Shahin, who played the teenage Michael in the musical Thriller and sang his songs on stage, talks about the reception his performance received in this competition: "We never expected such a reaction. During the Thriller show tour, I played Michael as a teenager when he was a member of the Jackson 5, and I spent many nights singing that song (Who’s Loving You) and his other songs with Motown. It was good fortune that this was the very song Simon (one of the judges) really loved. You could say Michael Jackson helped make this happen." To watch Shahin’s performance, click. And now Shahin’s wish is to attend Michael’s summer concerts at the O2 Arena in London and see the King of Pop up close. "Watching his live performance will be amazing. I hope he sees my performance on Britain’s Got Talent. Going to concerts and watching them is a dream for me. And I hope that this competition and Simon will help make this dream come true. I’d really love to meet Michael. Maybe we could even discuss fan performances together." But Karen Thomas, Shahin’s mother, wasn’t able to buy tickets for her son to see a Michael Jackson concert. "I was lucky enough to see him on the BAD tour in the late ’80s. But this time it was impossible, even when more concert dates were added. I think fans really struggled to get these tickets."
