Release of Off The Wall 30th

Sony BMG has confirmed the release of an album to mark the 30th anniversary of Off The Wall, Michael Jackson’s highly successful album. The release date has been temporarily announced as August 29, 2009, but it may change. After last year’s huge success of Thriller 25th, new remixes of some songs from the original album are also expected to be released for the 30th anniversary of Off The Wall. Because of this release, the site michaeljackson.com has also started its activity with a theme matching Off The Wall. This album, which was released in the United States on August 10, 1979 and in the UK on September 29 of the same year, was Michael’s first solo album with Epic Records after his separation from Motown in 1977. At the time, it was the best-selling album by a Black artist until three years later, when it was overtaken by Thriller. Off The Wall has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide to date.
