A New Performance by Tatiana Thumbtzen

Tatiana Thumbtzen is the same girl who appeared in the famous and beloved “The Way You Make Me Feel” music video from BAD (1987) as the girl Michael was chasing. She was also the first girl to kiss Michael in public. During the BAD World Tour, Tatiana joined Michael on stage in joint performances of the song—until a kiss from her stopped her collaboration with that team. The music video “The Way You Make Me Feel” was filmed in late 1987. Many people thought that the woman who played the role in the “Dirty Diana” video was also her. In her 2005 interview, Tatiana denied this and said that despite Michael’s wishes, someone else was chosen for that role. According to Tatiana, after leaving Michael’s team, she became too famous and recognizable—so many producers avoided using her in their projects, saying that her excessive fame would cast a shadow over the other people on the team, and this harmed her career. The character of the girl in “The Way You Make Me Feel” was so strong and famous that it even “rose up” against Tatiana.

She has always admitted in her interviews her love for Michael during the making of the video and the BAD tour. In 1993, she did interviews defending Michael, who was dealing with his accusations, and in 2005 she also defended his innocence.
