King of Pop — German version
The King of Pop turns 50 on August 29, and special birthdays always come with special gifts. This time, following Australia and New Zealand, Sony in Germany has announced the release of an album of selected fan songs to mark Michael Jackson’s birthday.
Bild, Germany’s biggest news agency, has joined Sony in this effort and has set up a competition on its website for fans to vote for Michael’s songs. The 30 songs that receive the most votes will be released on August 22 in the album “King of Pop — German Version.” Some of the voters will also receive, by chance, travel tickets to Las Vegas worth 2,000 euros. And those who can pass a test placed on this site in German can benefit from special prizes. The first-place winner can spend their weekend in Las Vegas with one of their loved ones. Winners ranked second through fifth will receive a Michael iPod. Winners ranked sixth through twentieth will receive a free copy of the album “King of Pop.” The names of winners ranked first through one hundred will be printed in the booklet of this album.
The voting deadline is until noon on July 28, and starting July 29, Bild.de’s site will begin a daily countdown introducing each of the 30 selected songs.
