Lifetime achievement award for Michael

Yesterday, Michael received a lifetime achievement award at the NRJ Music Awards 2008 ceremony, held in France (Cannes). The ceremony was broadcast yesterday on TF1.

Michael did not attend the event, but his video message was shown in the hall.

“Hello to all my friends in France. Although I couldn’t be at the ceremony tonight to receive this prestigious award, I’m very happy to have had the chance to tell all my French fans how valuable your support has been to me over the years.

It’s hard to believe that 25 years ago, Quincy Jones and I began working on an album called ‘Thriller.’ To say that ‘Thriller’ still holds the record for the best-selling album in music history is truly amazing. I want to thank all my fans around the world for this achievement.

Although tonight’s award is given to me in recognition of a lifetime of work, there is still so much for Michael Jackson to do. My love and passion for music has never stopped. And for those who don’t know, I was working on the 25th anniversary album ‘Thriller’ in the studio with a number of artists. I hope ‘Thriller’ continues to pave the way for future generations in the same way.

Thank you to TF1 and NRJ for this very special award. It means a lot to me that you have recognized me.

And thank you to my fans as well. I love you from the bottom of my heart, and I hope to see you soon. I love you. Take care. God bless you.”
