Michael’s Phone Interview with FOX News During Fan Protests

Last night, Michael Jackson, during an almost three-minute phone interview, talked about Eminem’s video with Geraldo Rivera, who was present at the location of the fan gathering in New York.

Fans showed their protest against MTV airing Eminem’s new video by holding demonstrations in “Times Square” in front of the MTV studios.

Fans were hard surprised when Michael personally delivered his message to them.

In a phone call with Geraldo Rivera, who was among the protesting crowd, Michael said: “I decided to do it myself instead of having someone speak on my behalf.”

The phone call could be heard by fans through loudspeakers placed on the street.

Geraldo Rivera called Eminem’s video a savage and racist imitation.

During the protest, one of Michael’s look-alikes performed the Beat It dance. Fans held placards, for example one of them read: “Michael Jackson, we hope.”

One member of the Michael Jackson fan website (MJFC) told an Associated Press reporter: “We’re here because we feel that MTV shouldn’t air videos like this. It’s cruel. It’s an insult to Michael and his family.”

About 300 fans took part in the protest. But this number was reported much lower by the news media. For example, the Associated Press reported that only 16 people attended the protest!
