Michael Jackson’s statement regarding the film Man In The Mirror

On August 10, Michael Jackson had drafted a statement, which Judge Melville approved for publication on August 16. The statement reads:

“My family and I have devoted our lives to spreading unity and peace in the world through our music. Man In The Mirror, a film that has recently been made without permission based on the story of my life, in no way reflects the reality of our family. It is regrettable that over the years, we have been the target of completely inaccurate descriptions. We have been put under the scrutiny of people’s eyes—still being portrayed in a bad light and being hurt. I personally have suffered from being called ‘Wacko Jacko’ and from many harmful lies, as well as the news that I have become the father of quadruplets. This situation is unbearable and must be stopped. The description people give of us is not the truth of who we are or what we do. We are a loving family. My success on stage depends on the love and support of my family off stage. My brothers and I are, first and foremost, ‘brothers.’ We started our activities together and we will always be together. All I can hope for is that one day my family will receive the same love and respect that they have shown to others throughout their lives.”
