According to a report by ABC News, the recorded audio on a cassette and a signed petition are in the possession of the mother of the child who accused Michael of abuse. The petition emphasizes that Michael has never confronted his child. Kimberly Guifoyle, the legal expert for this news network, said she heard the recorded cassette—recorded last month in Bahman (February)—through a researcher connected to the Jackson group, and in her view there is no sign of coercion in the woman’s voice. The tape was obtained by one of the close members of the Michael defense group. In the recording, the child and his mother say that Jackson has never behaved improperly toward the child. In the tape, they praise and compliment Jackson for his support, love, and guidance, and the boy’s mother said that God has bestowed a great blessing upon them by bringing Michael into their lives. She also referred to Michael as “the father figure” for her children. Shortly after the tape was recorded, the child’s mother said she had been like a hostage in Neverland; however, according to Guifoyle Newsom, who has listened to this audio version, no such feeling is heard in the woman’s voice on the tape. She says, “In the tape, the mother comes across as very passionate and interested when expressing her praises of Michael. In my view, this tape and the petition in hand could be very costly for the group making the accusations. Maybe they will be forced to say that they lied on the tape and on this sheet.”
