VMA 2003: A Night Full of References to Michael

The MTV Video Music Awards ceremony MTV was held this year on 6 Shahrivar. Despite rumors claiming that Michael would also take part this year, just like the unexpected appearances he made at this ceremony in the past two years—so much so that even a Message Board on the MTV USA site had promised Michael’s attendance 100 percent—this did not happen. But in any case, on that night there were many references to Michael. The ceremony, which was marked by a special touch in honor of its 20th anniversary, Chris Rock was the host. Jack Black, the American comedian and actor, when receiving the top award for genius of the world, made a small joke about Michael and the “Millennium Artist” award that was given to Michael last year at this same ceremony. Missy Elliot thanked Michael and her sister when receiving the award for Best Video Hip-Hop. But the most delightful moment of this ceremony for Michael’s fans was when the group Metallica played a mix of the best MTV songs over the years, including the song Beat It by Michael Jackson.
