Receiving an Honorary Diploma
Today, Michael visited Roosvelt High School in Gary, where he received the school's honorary diploma. While speaking with the students at the school, he said, "With iron will, steadfast determination, and staying healthy, anything you want is possible." The students gave him gifts and performed Beat It and Thriller as a musical group.
At the end, Michael showed up at the city's baseball stadium to take part in honoring the residents who are serving in the armed forces. At this event, Michael received flowers and books from the people, including messages from his fans. During the ceremony, the city's youth performed various programs.
Earlier, during a press conference with the city's mayor, Scott King, it was announced that Michael would help create a performing arts center. The mayor said that Michael may collaborate in the design stages or in providing funding for the center.
