Michael Jackson’s Former Accuser’s Mother Accused of Fraud
The mother of the teenage plaintiff who accused Michael of sexually abusing her was charged with fraud against a social services organization on Tuesday of this week. The prosecution team that filed the charge believes that when she requested financial help from this organization, she lied about her financial ability.
The prosecution team announced that the plaintiff’s mother defrauded the social services organization of $18,000. If the crime is proven, she will spend the next five years in prison.
They also warned that if the plaintiff’s mother does not surrender herself to the police on September 7, she will be arrested.
In the court proceedings regarding Michael Jackson’s accusations—which ended in his acquittal—she had been called a liar by Michael’s defense attorneys and was accused of defrauding the Social Security organization.
Sandi Gibbons, spokesperson for Michael’s defense attorney in the Los Angeles district, said: “These allegations are the result of a thorough investigation into her alleged deception, with the aim of benefiting from free community services.”
“We felt that the evidence and documents were sufficient to bring such a charge.”
Michael Jackson’s defense attorney, Thomas Mesere, said that he informed Michael about bringing such a charge against his former accuser’s mother. Mesere told Reuters: “I always believed that the case of accusations against Michael Jackson was a fraud and a disgrace for the accusers. And these allegations confirm that.”
“We had previously provided this information about the accuser’s mother to prosecutor Sneddon, hoping that he would withdraw the accusations against Michael Jackson. Unfortunately, he was stubborn and did not accept our request.”
According to court documents, the search and investigation into the accuser’s mother began in February 2005, after Michael Jackson’s jury members were selected, by a private investigator.
Gibbons said: “We have a special unit for handling this kind of case. Some people may say that $18,000 isn’t a lot. But this money comes from the taxes paid by the people. It should go to the people who truly can’t afford their living expenses and their children’s needs.”
