60th Session - Judge Agrees to Call the Accuser Back to the Witness Stand

In yesterday’s court session, the defense attorneys requested that if the film of the police interview with the accuser is played, then he should be called back to the witness stand. Today, Judge Rodney Melville announced that he accepted the defense attorneys’ request. But he said the defense attorneys must specify what areas they intend to question the accuser about. In response, the defense attorneys said they intend to show with their questions that the accuser’s statements in this interview had been planned in advance. They also raised the possibility that the accuser’s mother, the lawyer who took the accuser to a psychiatrist, and the psychiatrist himself might need to be called to the stand. Defense attorney Robert Sanger, regarding the calling of the psychiatrist, said that Stan J. Katz, the psychiatrist who had reported the allegations from the accuser to the police, said that he first heard these claims from the accuser’s sister and then the accuser himself had brought them up. While, according to Sanger, in the film that will be shown in court, the accuser states that before meeting the psychiatrist, he had not told anything to his sister or brother. Prosecutor Ron Zonen announced in court that the prosecution team would continue their work until the end of next week. They had previously announced that their work on this case had ended.
