The 45th Session — Mothers: We Trust Michael
The mothers of two witnesses who testified yesterday in court that Michael had never sexually abused them said today, from the witness stand, that they trusted Michael so much that they allowed their sons to sleep in his bed and were sure that there was no sexual abuse.
Robson said that he had allowed Wade and Cahantal—his son and daughter—during their first trip to Neverland in 1990, when they were 7 and 10 years old, to spend the night in Michael’s room. He said that since then, up to now, they have visited Neverland four times a year. He continued:
“I’ve known Michael for a long time. I’ve talked with him for many hours about everything. I feel like he is part of my family. I trust him. I give my children to him.”
She added: “He is a very special person. He isn’t the neighbor’s son. He is Michael Jackson. He is very exceptional. He is very pure. The result of knowing him is loving him and gaining trust in him.”
Robson said that even she herself, on several occasions while lying on Michael’s bed, had watched and talked to him and watched movies.
She explained how her family became acquainted with Michael: when Wade, her son, won a dance competition in 1987, Michael recognized his talent and helped them relocate to the United States.
Wade Robson, 22, a famous and successful choreographer of dance moves, has recently been working on making a film for Walt Disney.
Robson criticized the mother of the plaintiff, who in 1993 had withdrawn her son from a lawsuit against Michael after a multi-million-dollar settlement.
He said he had seen that boy and his mother several times at Neverland and had sometimes spoken with them.
“My idea of the mother was that she wanted to be the lady of Neverland. She would instruct the Neverland employees as if she owned the place. My idea was that she used her beauty to make men serve her.”
In this regard, prosecutor Tom Esdon asked Mrs. Robson: “Were you jealous of her because she took your place?” The witness answered, “Of course not.”
Robson described Neverland by saying: “I went there to escape my problems. It was the happiest place on Earth. I especially liked the chimpanzees.”
When the prosecutor asked whether she had been upset because she had told one of the Neverland employees that Michael was separating him from his son, Robson answered no.
Lisbeth Barnes also said she trusts Michael.
“I completely trust him. He is a very good person. You only understand that when you can trust someone.”
She also said she had never seen Michael touch her son in an unusual way.
Karlee Barnes and Chantal Robson, the sisters of Brett and Wade, also testified that nothing unpleasant happened during their stay at Neverland. However, both said they had slept in Michael’s room only two or three times.
Chantal said about it:
“I’m a girl, and I prefer to have a little bit of privacy for myself. I was turning into an adult.”
They also said that Michael is the best friend a boy can have, and that it’s not a problem for boys to sleep in his bed.
Karlee Barnes, who was in the witness stand smiling at Michael, said that she and her brother, late at night, would bounce around in Michael’s room with him. She also described Michael as a close friend.
