Michael Jackson’s Statement Regarding the Leaking of Confidential Documents to the Media

In an interview with Geraldo Rivera, Michael Jackson discussed recent events and the leaking of certain confidential documents belonging to the jury. You can read it below:

Geraldo Rivera: “The process of selecting jury members for Michael Jackson’s case is underway, while documents that should have remained confidential have been exposed in a highly damaging way. In my opinion, the leaked documents unfairly influence the thoughts of the jury members and create problems for Michael in holding a fair trial. I spoke with the King of Pop two weeks ago. Michael Jackson was prohibited from discussing his allegations, the accuser, and the documents that leaked to the media. However, by permission of Judge Melville, he was allowed to read a text about recent events on a television program.”

Below is what Michael Jackson said on the program “At Large with Geraldo Rivera”:

“Yes, over the past two weeks, a large amount of ugly and spiteful information about me has leaked to the media. Apparently, this information has come from the transcripts related to one of the jury sessions—transcripts that neither I nor my lawyers were present at. This information is hateful and false.

“Years ago, I allowed a family to visit Neverland and stay there for a while. Neverland is my home. I allowed this family to come to my house because they told me their son has cancer and needs my help. Over all these years, I have helped thousands of children who were either sick or in need.

These events have created a nightmare for my family, my children, and me. I no longer intend to put myself in such a sensitive situation. I love my community and I have a great deal of faith in our country’s judicial system. Please be open-minded and allow me to go to court. Like every other American citizen, I deserve a fair trial. When the truth is told, I will be acquitted and my innocence will be proven.”

Geraldo Rivera: “When I asked Michael if there was anything else he wanted to add, he first said no, but then later added: ‘I just ask the public to remember my family and me in their prayers. This is the kindness they can show.’”
