Michael’s Mother and Father Speak
Michael’s mother and father, Katherine and Joseph Jackson, in an exclusive interview with “Daphne Barak” at their home in Las Vegas, said how their son’s allegations have shattered their lives. But they support their son. They believe the allegations are a racist attempt to harm a human being whose beliefs the community does not accept.
The interview aired on Saturday on CBS and in the program “48 Hourd”.
Joseph Jackson said about his wife’s condition:
“She is not doing well. She has been dealing with this very, very hard. She doesn’t sleep at night; she’s awake and crying. My wife has cried a lot about this issue. Her heart has been hurt.”
Katherine adds:
“I pray a lot.”
Joseph Jackson said that his son does not follow the television news related to his allegations.
“I think he doesn’t want to hear too much about this situation.”
His wife added:
“Many people come to television just to be on television. They should remember that there is a family—and especially a mother with her feelings—who loves the person they are talking about and who is lying about them.”
She says that seeing pictures of her son while he had handcuffs on has deeply hurt her:
“When they took him to jail and I saw them put handcuffs on him, that hit me more than anything else.”
When the Children’s Services agency suddenly came to Neverland to see Michael Jackson’s children, Katherine was there. She says:
“When they brought them out and (the kids) saw that I was sitting there, they ran toward me—‘Grandma’—and jumped into my arms, hugged me, and kissed me. His children are happy. Whenever I see them, they are always happy.
I know my son, and these (allegations) are ridiculous. He is very generous. Very forgiving. And it seems that people take advantage of people like that. My son would never hurt a child. He loved children so much. I support him and, as a mother, I take his side. This is the only thing I can do right now.”
Joseph Jackson believes that if his son is acquitted, he will regain his career. But racism has made America oppose him:
“Of course he can continue his career. Here it’s only the United States. All the other countries around the world are proud of Michael. We have the biggest problem here… it’s racism.”
According to what this couple said, Michael’s former defense attorney—Mark Geragos—had assured them that the court would not continue. But Katherine said she knew it would continue:
“I knew it, because I know what evil people are like. Someone wants to prove their point.”
Both of them will support their son in the trial as much as possible. Joseph: “I might not get the chance to go there every day. But I’m determined to do it.”
Katherine: “Whenever I can, I go there. As much as I can.”
