Child abuse specialist testifies in court

On Friday, January 21, Judge Melville, in a ruling, allowed the prosecution to use a child abuse specialist to testify in court. Thomas Mesereau, Jackson’s defense attorney, said that such testimony could support the unreliable statements of the accuser’s family. He also stated that if it can be proven that the accuser and his family are “not victims but proven liars,” then such testimony should not be allowed. Mesereau is trying to show that the accuser’s family has consistently lied and provided contradictory statements to police, social workers, and Jackson’s employees. Mesereau also said in a motion he submitted to the court on January 21 that magazines and books obtained during the search of Jackson’s home should not be shown to the jurors with obscene or vulgar titles.
