Michael’s Songbook to Be Released
Chris Cadman and Craig Halstead, writers who have already penned successful books about Michael Jackson, are preparing a new book titled "Michael Jackson For The Record", which will enter bookstores in March this year. The books these two authors have published so far include:
Michael Jackson The Early Years - Michael Jackson The Solo Years - Jacksons Number Ones.
This book contains collected information about every song that Michael, in one way or another, played a role in—as a performer, songwriter, producer, inspiration, or even as the subject of the song. The songs in this book are arranged alphabetically, and for each song, details are provided including its creators, release date, and explanations of how the song relates to Michael, along with other interesting reading material.
Let’s hear from the authors themselves:
“Michael first stepped into a recording studio in November 1976, three months after his ninth birthday. Two years later, he and his brothers released their first successful song: I Want You Back—and to this day, despite the problems and obstacles that could have destroyed the career of any other artist, Michael’s huge fan base has remained loyal to him as always.
We used many different sources to gather information for this book. Our starting point was Michael and his brothers’ officially released singles and albums. In the process, we didn’t overlook the many songs Michael collaborated on with other artists. We also made sure that the many unreleased songs that Michael wrote himself—or collaborated on writing—didn’t escape our attention. Information about the demo versions and mixes of the songs is also included in this book.
Of course, we should mention that we didn’t include information about every demo version or cover of songs, because collecting all of that information would have been impossible. We only wrote down the details of those demo versions of songs that had been released officially or unofficially, or that had notable information associated with them.
Information about songs we weren’t fully sure about has also been recorded in the final section of the book. We’re sure some people will feel that some of the songs included in the main section belong in the Japanese section—or vice versa. In any case, if no mistakes happened in this book, then it means we weren’t human.
Gathering the information and preparing the book took nearly three years, and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say we could have worked on it for another two or three years. But if we wanted to see the day the book was released, we finally had to stop being so obsessive somewhere.
We hope that just as we enjoyed searching for information and preparing this book, you will enjoy reading it.”
